Slate Interview with Freeman Dyson
Krista interviewed Dyson for SOF’s two-part series on Albert Einstein. He was an enchanting, thoughtful character who had a wonderfully casual way of stating his ideas. In this Slate interview, he touches on everything from Dawkins to global warming.
It’s refreshing to hear a moderate voice about global warming, because I believe he’s right. Working in state government and the corporate sector alerted me many things. But the one thing that stands out is that people like to create crises to feel a sense of importance, to make a difference. We need to change our habits, of course — for beauty though more than annihilation and destruction. Nature shakes her bony finger at us humans when we think we can overtake her.
