There’s some surreal portrait photography coming out of Iceland. And this cat — Gísli Dúa Hjörleifsson (God I love the sound of Icelandic. I’ve got to learn to speak it, or at least sing Vokuro properly.) — pushes portraiture in a refreshing way, especially when he uses the natural drama of the landscape. It’s TLOTR in jeans, or no pants at all for that matter. No pretense, no erudition, but a whole heck of a lot of fun and playfulness. And they’re brutes with swords and Land Rovers!
